This may seem like a small tip but in all actuality, this will save you a ton of time. The only thing worse than trying to untangle a tangled lead cord is trying to fix tangled Christmas lights. In the video below Mike The Christmas Guy goes over a great technique for wrapping and string your extension cords in the offseason.

For those who prefer reading over watching videos below is a transcript for you. Note at times Mike references things in the video so feel free to read along until he gets to the point you are having difficulty with.

Hi this is Matt and Mike with The Christmas Guys™ bringing you another pro tip set. Today we’re going to be showing you how to properly wrap up your lead cord for the end of the season. So what I like to do personally is to get the female end first and start with that. Put it in my hands with a nice firm grip on it and then you just begin wrapping between your forearm and your elbow and just begin wrapping like so. Now you see how I’m trying to keep it in line, eve spaced as I go around. Once I start to get towards the end what I like to do personally is pull it out keeping the loop and I’m going to twist it like so. It kind of looks like an infinity symbol, for those of you math geniuses out there, which I am not. Then just wrap together like so and that keeps it nice and neat and ready to go for the next Christmas season. And then I bring the female end in through here to the male end, make sure it’s properly lined up, slide it in and you’re ready to put away and set it in with all your Christmas gear. Make sure you out it in a tote. We like to put everything in a tote, keep it nice and organized and you’ll know where it is for the next Christmas season.
